Writing in the wake of Michael Winterbottom’s new film, The Killer Inside Me, she says, “Many viewers are waking up to the fact that the repetition of certain patterns of violence is not the sign of an edgy dramatic vision, but rather the sign of a tedious old misogyny, and that it’s time for directors to find their thrills elsewhere.”
