Everyone knows Metallica…or at least they should. But the band is not known as Christian writers. Many music groups are overlooked in the area of faith messages simply because of their lifestyle or musical genre. Metallica’s famous Black Album features the popular song “Nothing Else Matters”. The topic of the song is not given, but one could easily identify a Christian perspective with the lyrics. “Trust I seek, and I find in you. Everyday for us something new…All these words I don’t just say, and nothing else matters”. Perhaps the words reference something else, but the soft tone of the song and these lyrics are easily applied with Scripture. Nothing else matters besides a relationship with Christ. Sometimes Metallica has to remind us.
