Steven M. Hughes is a Financial Therapist and Money Reiki Practitioner helping Black millennials and entrepreneurs build healthy relationships with their money. He marries his education in financial psychology and behavioral finance with the principles of Reiki energy healing to help clients achieve long-lasting financial clarity and confidence.

With his holistic approach to financial wellness, Steven goes beyond the surface to help his clients identify and resolve their deeply rooted issues with money. He offers practical frameworks and actionable tools that help clients shift their money mindset and behaviors. Notable publications such as Forbes, Business Insider, Yahoo! Finance and Credit.com feature his powerful and relatable financial guidance.

Since 2014, Steven has also served as the Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit Know Money®. Inspired by his own money missteps in college and his challenges on the road to financial recovery, he saw an opportunity to reach college students at risk of experiencing similar financial struggles. The organization teaches Black college students how to think, talk, and interact positively with money through culturally-relevant workshops and events.

A lifelong learner, Steven earned his undergraduate degree from Clemson University, where he was honored as one of its “Roaring 10,” for his impactful work in business, education, and the community. He holds a certificate in Behavioral Finance from Duke University and is currently enrolled in Creighton University’s Financial Psychology and Behavioral Finance program. Steven is also a Reiki Master Teacher and member of the Financial Therapy Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
