born and raised on a farm in Iowa now living in Crete raising two daughters, writing, taking photos, working on environment issues, cooking with fresh food and always trying to learn how to speak Greek by dropping my Middle West accent!

The most important difference in Crete and the rest of Greece from the United States is that the majority of doctors here are well-trained and committed to good health care for their patients. Now is a good time for the U.S.A. to switch to Medicare Health Care for All: do away with superfluous paperwork, let patients keep their own records and take the temptation of pharmaceutical perks out of the doctor's office.

“European Union takes turn right.” I don’t agree with this headline which I’ve heard and seen in English several places such as BBC and NPR. I also don’t agree with low turnout being a referendum on dissatisfaction with the European Union. The daily advantages of easy travel and purchasing between countries seems to already be taken for granted.
