European scientists plan to launch two satellites into orbit, one always between the other and the sun, in order to study the sun’s corona without waiting for a natural eclipse. “The mission would create an artificial eclipse for the observing satellite and allow a year-round glimpse into the sun’s inner corona, which is the super-hot plasma atmosphere wreathing the sun.”
