One of the things (out of many) that we here at Waq al-waq have neglected to cover over the past few weeks is the elections of officers for the Yemeni Journalist Syndicate, but now Muhammad al-Qadhi of the National has a very good report to bring us up to speed. The story quotes Said Thabit, who knows about government repression first-hand. I was also surprised to see the runner-up get as many votes as she did. I know a number of journalists, who have a less than flattering opinion of her.
