Smrithi Sunil is a neuroscientist and biomedical engineer who grew up in Bangalore, India, and is currently living in Madison, WI. Her work broadly focuses on developing microscopy techniques to study brain function, and she is a research scientist in Elizabeth Wright’s lab, where she focuses on advancing correlative light and electron microscopy to study cellular neurodegeneration.

Outside of research, Smrithi writes about scientific progress and the process of discovery on her Substack, Engineering Discovery. She also enjoys woodworking, creating interactive visuals, and analyzing publicly available datasets.
